The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Rene Pinet can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Rene and I grew up together as boys but as time went on we lost contact with each other until just over a year ago. I was ill and so was Rene – so we built a strong bond as we went through our medical issues. Since I was not able to drive for a time, Rene would either come to my house for coffee or he would pick me up and the two of us would go out for coffee. We spent many hours talking of old times and locating others that we had known when we were young living in the paradise of Canmore. Rene would tell me about all the different jobs he did while working for the Department of Highways. We usually went to A&W on Taylor Drive in Red Deer. When I was in hospital, he would come to see me which helped to lift my spirits. I missed him when he left for Calgary for his extreme yet optimistic treatment and kept in contact with him and his wife Terri on a regular basis. I was deeply saddened when I received a phone call that he had not made it. I will truly miss him and the great times we had on our coffee escapades. My thoughts go out to the family and especially his wife Teri who constantly remained by his side and was his greatest encouragement. David Jahelka
