Obituary

Mrs. Laurie Elizabeth Dahms (nee Lane) of Terrace, British Columbia passed away in Alberta, in a motor vehicle accident on Friday, March 27, 2020 at the age of 66 years. Laurie was born in Watrous, Saskatchewan in 1953. She was a loving wife, mother, and ‘nana’ to her grandchildren. Laurie was a nurse from 1975, until her retirement. She spent time as a Scout Leader, a Skeet Shooter and was always a crafter extraordinaire; who quilted, scrapbooked, knit and crocheted. She and Ken loved their vintage cars, attending car shows, and traveling together in their motorhome, all over North America. Laurie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ken Dahms; her sons, Michael (Lori) and Andrew (Tera) and her grandchildren, Kellan Douglas, Taylor, Harrison and Liam Dahms. She will also be sadly missed by her mother-in-law, Doris Dahms; her sister-in-law, Debra (Mo Naguib); her sister, Marilyn (Ed) Mol; her brother, Eric Lane Jr. and her brother-in-law, Milton Prokopetz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Laurie was predeceased by her parents, Eric and Dorothy Lane; a sister, Patricia Prokopetz and her father-in-law, Chester Dahms. A Celebration of Laurie’s Life will be held at a future date. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.

We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Laurie’s passing. I only just got to know Laurie these past 5 months and had the privilege to learn many sewing techniques and share some great laughs and happy hours. Laurie had the biggest smile all the time but an even bigger heart. She talked of her sons and daughters in-law and grandchildren with such pride and gratitude. Our sincerest condolences to Ken and all her family and friends.

So saddened to hear of Laurie's passing. I was a grade behind Laurie in school. We lived across the back alley from her and were playmates when we lived in town during the winter months. Condolences from Bill and I to all the family.

We have lost an" Earth Angel" that will be truly missed by all who knew & loved her. May she rest in peace & may strength, comfort & love surround you her precious family & friends. I will treasure the last time I saw her with Ken & cousin Doris at the cousin reunion at Lakeside in Bashaw 2 years ago. A beautiful spirit....a lovely soul & wonderful person. Please know our thoughts & prayers are with you all & blessings of healing of your broken hearts.
