Obituary

Julie ‘Jewells’ Karen Robinson of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the age of 62 years. Julie was born on September 11, 1957 at Manchester, England and came to Canada as a child. She was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she married her husband, John at the age of 38. She then came to Red Deer, Alberta, with her husband, and worked at Petland for over ten years, educating people about nurturing the animal-human bond. Jewels was sincerely a kind and caring person. Such a bright light in this tedious world. Truly - a precious jewel. We got to know Jewels at Petland. Seeing her was a highlight every month when we shopped on seniors' day! We will deeply miss Jewels, as we're sure you will as well. So sorry for your loss.

Jules was a wonderfully warm and loving human being. She always gave such great hugs. She was genuine and i will miss seeing her face so much. She always greeted us so warmly and was the best part about going to Petland. I will miss talking with her about our fur babies. I will miss the hugs. The world is a little less colorful now that she is gone.

From the moment we met, we connected like old friends. We shared many private stories and moments together. She was there for me during really hard times and my happiest moments. I was blessed to work with her everyday. Her smiles, her laugh, her hugs, her love for lipstick, and her passion for animals, will be missed the most.

This is one of those really hard times and I’m sure she would have given me one of her comforting hugs. The kind one can only receive from a true friend. So Jewels, although your body is gone, your beautiful soul will continue to live on in my heart. 💞

John,
Peter and I are here for you and even though we don’t live close anymore, please know that you are in our thoughts. We will see you soon. Love always.

So sad to hear of jewels passing. I worked with her years ago and she was such a wonderful person. She was someone who would always have your back if you were having a bad day and she was so easy to talk to. I will miss seeing her smiling face at the store, she was the reason we went back often. Our thoughts are with John and her family

The thing about Jewels that I will remember always is how welcoming she was, every time I walked in the store she was quick to say hello and ask how my drive was and how my babies are doing. She was always so excited to show me what she was working on in the store. We both shared a love for ginger beef at wok box. So when ever i would go get lunch she would ask if i was going to get our favourite thing.
The thing about her too is that she wasnt just welcoming to us Petlanders, she was welcoming to our guests and knew so many by name. And the guests knew her to. She was a fixture in Red Deer and she will be missed for her laughter and genuine care for the people are her.
She was a joy and I will miss her
