Obituary

Mrs. Amy Allwright passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Rosehaven Care Center in Camrose, Alberta on January 26, 2020 at 100 years young. Amy was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, this is also where Amy met her future husband Leonard in 1943. Their children were born and raised wherever the family was stationed at the time with the RCAF in various places across Canada; Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Ft. Churchill, Manitoba, Camp Borden, Ontario, Barrie, Ontario and finally, in Penhold, Alberta. Amy enjoyed family, knitting, crocheting, “fancywork”, quilting, reading, romance novels, cards, bingo and babysitting. Some of her favorite places to travel were to Maui as well as England to visit family and returning to her roots in Moose Jaw. If you ever were to ask Amy her age, especially as she grew older, she’d say “sweet sixteen” with a little giggle. Amy is survived by her loving family, her daughters: Faye Mayberry, Sharon Heptonstall (Ray Bacon), Joy (Mark) Chamberlain, her sons: Butch and Dennis (Shawna), son-in-law Al Marsh, daughter-in-law Wendy (Gerry) Favelle and her youngest sister Winnie Hayes as well as twelve loving and caring grandchildren, sixteen loving great grandchildren, four beautiful great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Amy was predeceased by her parents, Elsie and Walter, her husband Leonard, a daughter Hilda Marsh, a son-in-law Glen Mayberry, her sisters, Lily Boyer and Rosie Elson and her brothers, Johnny and Charlie Lincoln. As a family we will strive to continue Amy’s legacy of love! A Celebration of Amy’s Life will be held at the Parkland Funeral Home, 6287-67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastor Glenn Fretz officiating. Memorial Donations in Amy’s honor may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 26331, Stn Brm B, Toronto, Ontario, M7Y 4R1 or www.diabetes.ca, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1300-2300 Yonge St, Toronto ON M4P 1E4 or www.heartandstroke.ca. I remember the very first time we met back in October 1989, when we collected you, Len and Hilda from Gatwick Airport. That was the first day of our fantastic journey as two families become one. And what fantastic memories we have of those 30 years! You will be missed by so many friends and family. Rest in Peace Amy, you deserve it. Love and hugs to you and all the family ❤️❤️❤️❤️
