Norman Peter Kress
KRESS
1937 – 2012
Norman Peter Kress of Red Deer passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the age of 75 years. Norman was born to Peter and Christina Kress of Villmun, Saskatchewan, and grew up on a farm in the Mankota, Saskatchewan area. He worked in the oilfield throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. After meeting and marrying Jackie, they settled in Red Deer, Alberta, becoming proud parents to three children; Kathy, Shelly and Kevin. Norm’s love of farming took them to Haynes, Alberta, where he owned and operated his own farm for over thirty years, later retiring to Red Deer, Alberta. Norm’s love for animals always remained strong. He often took trips with his horses, riding in the Ya Ha Trinda, also raising two dogs; Molly and Kita. Norm took great joy in supporting his grandson Levi at Red Deer Minor Hockey games, was a lifetime blood donor, an active member of the American Quarter Horse Association and also really enjoyed family and friends. Norm was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Norm will forever be remembered by his wife Jackie, their three children; Kathy (Ian) Hiscock of Orbost, Australia, Shelly (Don) Smith of Red Deer, Alberta and Kevin (Silvana) Kress of Salvador, Brazil, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Warm memories of Norm will also be cherished by his six sisters; Bernie, Jeanette, Donalda, Phyliss, Sal and Elaine, his three brothers; Victor, Julius and Donny, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Norm’s life will be held from the Reception Centre at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Donations in Norm’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #101 4711 51 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 6H8 or the Alzheimer Society of Alberta, 4620 47 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 6C3.
