It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Miss Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Barnhill in Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the age of 66 years. Betty was born in Lacombe, Alberta on January 1, 1952 to Arnold and Mary Barnhill. Betty will lovingly be remembered by her brother, Jim (Nancy) Barnhill and her special niece, April Barnhill; as well as numerous family and dear friends. A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Betty’s honour may be made directly to a Charity of the Donor’s choice. Life Story for Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Barnhill

Betty was born in Lacombe, Alberta to Arnold & Mary Barnhill. She grew up on a farm by Joffre and attended Elementary School at Satinwood then continued on to Junior and Senior High School in Lacombe. In 1970, after High School Betty moved to Red Deer. Over the years, Betty worked at Woolco, Fletcher's Printing and The Betty Shop. She had a keen interest in Genealogy after a family trip to visit relatives in N.S. This became a passion of her's and a full time interest. She spent hours helping families discover their lineage and volunteered at the LDS Library and was an active member of the Alberta Genealogical Society, Red Deer Branch. Betty loved gardening, baking, garage saling, and looking for a bargain. She quietly helped her neighbors, family and friends. Everyone received a selection of her Christmas baking every year. Betty will be sadly missed by all the people she connected with near and far.
