Obituary for Irene Adelaide Shortt

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, Irene Shortt. She left us very peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the age of 91 years. Irene was born April 22, 1926 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. Teaching school brought her to Kerrobert, where she met Glen. Many years were spent there farming, operating Shortt Agencies and participating in the community. After twenty-five years enjoying snowbird life, Irene and Glen moved to Saskatoon, and upon Glen’s passing, Irene moved to Red Deer to be closer to her family. Irene loved people; she had many friends and loved her family dearly. We will miss her so very much. She leaves to mourn, her two daughters, Elaine (Gary) Cummins and Marlene (Don MacIntosh) Sieben; her grandchildren, Leanne Bennett, Trevor (Kirstie) Cummins, Leah (Kenton) Jones, Lori (Curtis) Thiessen and Lane (Jen) Sieben and seven great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Marg Dand and Ev Paterson, and many nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Glen Shortt, a son-in-law, Larry Sieben, and a brother, Doug Howard. A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040 or 1.800.481.7421.
