Obituary for Harriette Rau

Harriette  Rau
Mrs. Harriette Rau of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Bethany CollegeSide, Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Harriette was born on May 3, 1926 at Dog Pound, Alberta. She married Vernie Rau on October 7, 1950. The couple was blessed with six children and eventually moved to Red Deer in 1977. Harriette and Vernie were active in both the Gaetz Memorial United Church and the Living Stones Church in Red Deer. After Vernie’s passing in 2010, Harriette continued on her own until finally moving to Bethany CollegeSide in November of 2012. Harriette will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Eugene (Sharon) Rau of Lethbridge, Alberta, Sydnie (Virginia) Rau of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Cecil (Susan) Rau of Cochrane, Alberta; her three daughters, Alice (Wes) Jerome of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Lois (George) MacLeod and Miriam (Trevor) Gamelin, all of Red Deer, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her brother-in-law, Harold Ball of Regina and three sisters, Marie Smith and Teunisje Harrison, both of Calgary, Alberta and Johanna (Nick) VanVeen of Abbotsford, British Columbia. Harriette was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vernie on April 1, 2010, and siblings, Wanda, Alice, Jeanette, Steven and Henry. Relatives and friends are invited to come and pay their respects at Parkland Funeral Home, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. A Celebration of Harriette’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements in care of Rhian Solecki, Funeral Director at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.
