Mrs. Ruth Daisy Van Der Wekken (nee Swanson), beloved wife of Mr. Tony Van Der Wekken of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the age of 72 years. Ruth was born on May 23, 1941 at Edberg, Alberta. She met her husband, Tony and they were joined in marriage in 1963. The couple was blessed with three children. Ruth will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by her family and many dear friends. Ruth leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband, Tony and their three children, Lee-Ann (Fred) Farrant, Nancy (Paul) Lindley and Brian Van Der Wekken, and four grandchildren, Amanda (Curt) Farrant, Benjamin (Kassandra) Farrant, Alysha Lindley and Jared Lindley. She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Morris) Johanson and her brothers, Walter (Therese) Swanson and Dennis Swanson. A Memorial Service in Ruth’s honor will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Ruth’s honor may be made directly to a Charity of the donor’s choice.
