Grandma's Tribute

Our Grandmother was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 5 great, great grandchildren.Through her eyes, children and grandchildren were a very special blessing sent from God above. It was a reminder to her that life continues on from one generation to the next.Grandma loved each one of us dearly with an unconditional love and always wanted the very best for us.She sincerely hoped that we would have a some-what easier life in comparison to her many heartfelt trials throughout her own lifetime. Her genuine wish for us all was that we felt loved and continual good health and true happiness were bestowed upon us. As she watched us grow into our early adult lives, she envisioned us experiencing love and the utmost devotion to another person through marriage and children of our own someday. Our Grandmother’s loving and carefree spirit, beautiful smile, soft spoken voice, and light-hearted laughter will always keep our fondest of memories close to our hearts. There was a warmth, gentleness, and sense of peace that was felt near her presence whether she was cooking, baking, gardening, or crocheting yet another baby blanket for the newest grandchild. Each of us hold very special and meaningful memories of her that we will always cherish and never forget. Her home-made buns, cinnamon rolls, and oh those sugar doughnuts were certainly a welcomed treat when you went to Grandma’s house.Homegrown raspberries served with vanilla ice cream was another delectable sweet one could often look forward to while at Grandma’s. Grandma baked frequently and so if there weren’t freshly baked goodies on hand, you could always go down to the good ole basement and find your favorite treats in her freezer. How special was that! Many of us can remember all the Sunday dinners in her home that she so looked forward to and prepared.Setting the dining table with her lovely china ware was simply a must when family and friends gathered around. So often one would hear Grandma singing with a joyful heart while doing household chores or see her sitting happily, watching over the younger grandchildren at play. One of her greatest pleasures in life was to spend time with us. Our Grandmother will always be remembered as a person who faithfully strived to live a God-fearing Christian life. She prayed without fail everyday and read her bible frequently. She often reminded us to be thankful for the Dear Lord’s goodness and mercy.Remember to take your burdens to the Lord in prayer as well she would also say. Our Grandmother will truly be missed, but never forgotten. Our deep, abiding love for her will always remain in our hearts and our precious memories of her will continue to keep her spirit alive and with us. Some bible passages taken from the book of Psalm chapter 25 read: To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul; In you I trust, O my God. Show me your ways, O Lord, Teach me your paths; Guide me in your truth and teach me, For you are God my Savior, And my hope is in you all day long. Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful For those who keep the demands of his covenant. Our steadfast faith in God reminds us all that our Grandmother is now at complete peace in her final resting place with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her dearly beloved ones. God be with you till we meet again!
