George was more than a gentleman and mentor to us. He was also a hero and a caring, loving man. It was only a day or two after we moved into the Alderwood Community that George rode up on his horse, Dolly, introduced himself and started talking about the community. He became a great friend and neighbour.
George helped us choose our first mule. Although he was a little reluctant at first, as he said he didn't know much about mules. The weather on the day we headed out ended up being terrible with heavy rain, lightning and thunder. When we arrived at our destination, Amos (the mule) was in a round pen. George asked the owner if he could ride him. After checking out Amos's body condition, George had him walk over different types of surfaces and did a straight pass. We decided that we would discuss the pros and cons of purchasing him on the way home. I ended up buying Amos as the pros outweighed the cons. Amos has been my faithful companion for almost 18 years. George (with Dolly) and me (with Amos) went on many Bar U Ranch rides together. George was and always will be my life's hero and forever friend. George, Joyce, Patti and myself made many wonderful memories together. We were all pals!
