Obituary for George Blythe Wardner

George Blythe  Wardner
George B Wardner of Red Deer passed away in Red Deer on March 25, 2018 at the age of 91.George was born and raised in the Provost, Alberta area. He graduated from the Vermillion School of Agriculture in 1947 and left the farm to begin a career in the Oil Industry in 1949 with Imperial Oil, working in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and retiring in 1983. He lived in the High River area from 1981 through 2008. While in High River he enjoyed raising Quarter Horses. He also volunteered with The Calgary Stampede Parade Committee during this time. He moved to Red Deer in 2008 to be closer to family. George was a man of great warmth and integrity. He provided leadership in everything he did and will be missed by all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Ronald (Joan) Wardner of Red Deer and daughter, Launa (Don) Gordon of Rocky Mountain House. He leaves 4 granddaughters; Amanda, Angela (Joe), Amy (Brad), and Lyndsy (Donavan) along with 2 grandsons; Tyler and Cody (Eva). George was blessed with 9 great grandchildren; Bradley, Taliah, Christopher, Charlie, Edwin, Kennedy, Anders, Taylor and Reese. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce in 2006, one son, Lory in 1952, his sister Helen Schumacher in 2008, granddaughter Tina in 2010 and great-granddaughter Breanna in 2013. A Celebration of Life for George will be announced at a later time. Memorial donations may be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Red Deer Hospice Society.
