Condolence From: Jill & Shaun Hoogstraten
Condolence: Norm has always been a part of my life, and I remember how happy and fulfilled he became when Pat came in to his life. She was the missing piece, and they both seemed to emphasized the best parts of each other as their relationship grew. Pat became more than a friend, she became part of our family as Norm became part of Pat's family as well.

Thinking back to last summer when we last saw Pat and Norm, it is difficult to imagine that she would be gone so soon. Looking over the pictures of that day, she seems so happy and so full of life, as she always did. We will cherish this time with them, and our only regret is we were not able to spend more time catching up.

When there is pain, we often hope for a swift resolution; however it still feels as though Pat is gone far too soon. We are thankful her suffering was not prolonged and that she was comforted by those she cared for most during this difficult time for her. She always spoke of her family with such pride and it was obvious she loved them dearly. We cannot imagine the void Pat has left in the hearts of Norm and their family as she has undoubtedly left one in ours.

Pat loved her family with all her heart, and I believe your love and support made her transition easier for her knowing you would support each other in the wake of her loss. Our deepest sympathies to you all at this very difficult time.

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Pat's illness and her passing - such a wonderful person gone too soon. My boys still remember the "Cookie Lady" at the IGA and all of their beautiful birthday cakes! She was a dedicated, talented and supportive member in the ladies choir...we all depended on her strong alto voice. I am so sorry I cannot be at the Memorial, but my thoughts will be with all of you and I will sing River in Judea in her honour.

Condolence: Our hearts are heavy and missing our dear friend. We could talk about anything and confide everything. No words can be enough comfort to her family and friends, just know that we are thinking of you. Pat loved Norm and her family so well and completely that you must all know that her warmth will remain forever in your hearts.

There are no words to describe the sorrow I feel with the loss of Pat. She was first the piano teacher for my three children and years later, joined me in the management of The Bellevue Underground Mine. Everyone lucky enough to know Pat would experience the love she had for life, family and friends and then those friends she made feel like part of her family. Everyone called her “Mama Pat”. I can still see her standing on her toes to put a poncho over the mining helmet of a visitor so they wouldn’t be cold when in the mine. Pat thoughtfully created goodies to be sure all the staff felt welcome when they arrived, fed us through the season, and then made an amazing home cooked meal at the end of the season before they would depart for home. If someone left her a tip for her wonderful service, she put in extra and treated everyone to ice cream. When staff required lodging, Pat would bring things from her home to make them feel more comfortable. She took us all under her wings with love and dedication. Having Pat in my life made me a better person. I can only hope I demonstrated the love and devotion I had for her in the same way she loved all of us. Her place in my heart will never be filled.

Condolence: Norm, Tracy, Brenda, Kyle & Families.

My heart was heavy when I learned of Pat's illness and prognosis. It is far to soon to say farewell to my friend. The friend who taught my son piano or who looked after my dog (in spite of the dog sneakily eating all the dill pickle chip dip and then keeping her up all night, when he had the runs). One of the Alto voices in the Crowsnest Community Choir and the best darn baker and cake decorator! Pat was vibrant and lively gal, who loved and cherished all of you beyond measure. She will be sadly missed by me and many others.
