Obituary for William Wayne Forster

William Wayne Forster
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at the age of 89. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth of 70 years; daughters, Karen (Douglas Crichton) Forster, and Sharon Forster, four grandchildren Jill Aussant, Bruce Fenske, Melissa Crichton and Kael Crichton, and six great grandchildren, Lauren and Julia Aussant, Elizabeth and Ethan Bowey and Luke and Josh Fenske, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his parents William Clarence and Effie Forster, his brothers Clarence and Dale Forster, his sister-in-law Velma Robins. Wayne was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. He spent his youth in Saskatoon and Vancouver. Wayne joined the Army and after the war transferred to the Royal Canadian Airforce where he served in Canada and Germany for over 32 years. Upon retirement to Mirror and Alix, Alberta he worked for Alberta Hail and Crop for 10 years. He then served as Mayor of Alix, Alberta for 6 years. He finally retired to Revera Seniors’ Residence in Red Deer in 2013 where he served as President of the Residence Council. Wayne met Ruth as a young man in Saskatoon and they were married in 1946. They travelled throughout Canada and Europe with the military and to Florida for many years upon retirement. Wayne was an avid sportsman who especially enjoyed fishing, softball, golf, curling, and Friday night pool with the boys. Family was always Wayne’s first priority. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ruth and girls invite all whose lives were touched by Wayne and his indomitable spirit to come say goodbye at his Memorial Service to be held in the Revera Seniors’ Home Chapel on Friday, 4 November, 2016 at 11 AM.
