Obituary for James Robert "Jim" Pringle

James Robert "Jim" Pringle
PRINGLE, James Robert
1938 – 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Pringle on September 4, 2016 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 78. He was a wonderful, warm and kind husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Jim was born on April 8, 1938 at Minitonas, Manitoba, the third child of Walter and Dorothy Pringle. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret, and two sons, Jim Jr. (Maggie) of Edmonton and Bob of Red Deer; two brothers, John (Shirley) and Gordon (Debbie); and three sisters, Agnes (Vern), Ethel (Bill) and Mary (Bob). He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Allan (Mary). Following nine years at Nance Co. Ltd., Jim worked for 36 years at Red Deer Motors/Pike Wheaton. He was an avid curler and golfer of considerable skill. A man of many and varied talents, he was equally at home in his immaculate garden and yard as he was baking in the kitchen. In his later years, he was recognized for his work as an official at various curling events. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the medical professionals who attended Jim in his final months, including Dr. Sandy Murray, Dr. Hatim Karachiwala, and Dr. Sheila Eleason. Our heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care afforded Jim by the nursing staff of Unit 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. As per Jim’s request, there will be no funeral service. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Maryann Hansen of the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040 or 1.800.481.7421.
