Obituary for Carolyn Rene Reum (Jamieson)

Carolyn Rene Reum (Jamieson)
She split the week in half at noon on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, Mrs. Carolyn Rene Reum (nee Jamieson) returned her energy to mother earth, the endless pool of energy from which we all draw. Carolyn was born on November 3, 1956 at Salmon Arm, British Columbia, to John and Eveline Jamieson. Growing up with brothers, Douglas and Kenneth Jamieson, Carolyn’s love of life blossomed. She became involved with basketball in the eighth grade and in High School became a part of the Salmon Arm Jewels basketball dynasty. While at Mount Royal College, Carolyn was voted Female Athlete of the Year. Carolyn earned a Bachelor of Education at the University of Lethbridge. In January of 1980, Carolyn’s career began as a Physical Education Teacher in the Rocky Mountain School Division at the Rocky High School. Her passion for teaching and coaching grew, and she coached all she could: volleyball, basketball, badminton, and gymnastics. Carolyn earned her Early Childhood Development Certificate and later achieved her Masters of Education; which she utilized while teaching kindergarten at the Caroline School. In the spring of 1981, at the School Division Badminton Tournament, Carolyn caught the eye of Charles Reum, a rival coach. They married the following summer, their family soon to follow. Jana, Kale, Leilani, and Malia arrived in succession, and Carolyn quickly evolved into an encouraging, patient, and proud mother. When she was not teaching, Carolyn was traveling with her children to their many activities, encouraging and cheering them on along the way. She developed a love for travel, and was able to explore and discover many areas, including Italy, Australia, Ireland, Mexico, the U.S. and many parts of Canada. Carolyn will be lovingly missed by her husband, Charles; her children, Jana, Kale, Leilani, and Malia; her brothers, Douglas and Kenneth Jamieson and their wives, Helen and Pamela and their families; as well as her in-laws, Sarah and Steve Richter, Frank Reum and their families, and Peter and Barbara Reum. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, Eveline and John (Jack) Jamieson. Please join the family to celebrate Carolyn`s legacy at the Caroline School, 5027 – 48 Avenue, Caroline, Alberta on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Carolyn’s honor may be made directly to the Caroline School Enhancement Playground.
