Obituary for Gin Soon Choy

With great sadness we announce the passing of Gin Soon Choy, husband of 66 years, father and grandfather, at the age of 86 years. Arriving to Canada originally in Saskatchewan in 1949 at 20 years of age with the hopes and promise of building a new life for his family as a new father and husband. It had taken another almost 15 years for him to bring over his wife, Yuet Choy and daughter Laiwan Choy in 1964 to Red Deer. Gin became an Alberta Government employee in 1965 and served the Province of Alberta for 27 years before retiring early at 59 in 1988 due to the privatization of Michener Centre. He helped sponsor numerous families and extended families to establish themselves in Red Deer. He will always be remembered for his kindness to everyone, love of the outdoors, his work ethic and his integrity of always keeping his word. Arrangements in care of Ashley Paton, Funeral Director at Parkland Funeral Home.
