1925 – 2015
Mr. John Currie of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully at Bethany CollegeSide, Red Deer on Friday, March 27, 2015, at the age of 90 years. John was born on February 15, 1925 at Dominion No. 1, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, son of John and Mary Currie. He married his beautiful wife, Carmen and they were able to celebrate fifty-eight years of marriage. John and Carmen were blessed with four children, three sons and a daughter. As a teacher of Education, John’s career spanned forty-three years. He taught from the East Coast of Canada to Alberta. The majority of his career was spent with the Red Deer Separate Schools as a principal, teacher and trustee. John enjoyed reading, gardening, scrabble, and doing crossword puzzles. He devoted countless hours volunteering to support numerous organizations in the City of Red Deer. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carmen; his children, Glenn (Joan), Rob (Lisa), Karen (Bill) and John Kerry (Judy); as well as eleven grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Father Les Drewicki, celebrant.
