Obituary for Gordon "Gord" Paton

Mr. Gordon ‘Gord’ Paton of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the age of 78 years. Gord was born in Fernie, British Columbia on April 30, 1936 and was raised in Delburne, Alberta. He lived in Red Deer since he was a teenager. Poor vision restricted his career choices, but Gord was able to follow his dreams and become a chef in Red Deer and up north in various camps. Then he was involved with a business with his buddies. For the past twenty-five years, Gord has been a practicing Massage Therapist until retiring in November 2013. Gord always maintained that he had done everything in life that he wanted. He loved his family and he loved everyone he came in contact with. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Audrey Paton; son, Shane Cordell; daughter, Tanya Cordell (Peter Llewellyn); grandchildren, Rhea, Chelsey, Shelby, Rebecca, Ryley, Kaitlin and Tristan; and great grandchild, Xander. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Bert (Ruth) Paton; sister, Sandy Green (Lyle McKenna); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Paton, and a brother, Chris Paton. A Celebration of Gord’s Life will be held at the iHotel, 6500 – 67 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, in place of flowers, Memorial Donations in Gord’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com; to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca or to the Red Deer & District S.P.C.A. at www.reddeerspca.com.
