APPLETON, Gregory John
1965 – 2014
Gregory John ‘Greg’ Appleton of Ponoka, Alberta, passed away peacefully at his home in Ponoka on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the age of 48 years. Greg was born on June 8, 1965 at Edmonton, Alberta and was raised and lived in Red Deer; graduating from Camille J. Lerouge High School but spent his later years in Ponoka, Alberta. Greg had a great love of music even as a small child growing up. His favorite television show was Star Trek and he could be found watching one episode or another, throughout the years. Greg had a friendly personality and a compassionate heart; always displaying true kindness and gentleness to others. This was evident in his chosen career, where he worked as a Career Counselor at The Native Friendship Centre in Red Deer, helping clients prepare resumes and showing them the way to rehabilitation. Although Greg was a loving father figure to Stephen and Cindy Hallock, his greatest joy came through being reunited with his daughter, Shalene. It brought Greg immense pride to have the opportunity to dance with her at her graduation. He truly loved the few short years he was able to have with Shalene and tried his best to be the best father he could be for her. He felt truly blessed and will be watching with loving adoration from a better place, his much anticipated granddaughter’s expected arrival; with the comfort of knowing the circle of life has continued on. Greg leaves to mourn his loss, his mother and father Yvonne and Don, his cherished daughter, Shalene of Red Deer, Alberta, brother, Stephen Appleton of Calgary, Alberta and sister, Debbie Nicoll of Red Deer, and companion Joanne, as well as many dear friends. He was predeceased by his grandpa and grandma Short, his grandpa Appleton, aunt, Dorothy Appleton, uncle, Ernie and uncle, Lloyd Short. A Private Family Service for Greg has been held.
