Obituary

EMMONS, Darlene
1947 – 2019
Mrs. Darlene Marie Emmons (nee Reid), passed away in her 73rd year, in her 55th year of marriage to Steve. Darlene was active in her community; as a homemaker, and throughout her working life. After attaining her Degree, she worked with Girl Guides of Canada for many years; as well as numerous other organizations. Darlene finished her volunteer time by applying her love of sewing and quilt making, donating her work to many agencies, including but not limited to Alley Cats Rescue and to Canadian Forces Members, for which she was recognized by receiving, along with her husband Steve, the Canadian Joint Operations Command Commendation from Lieutenant-General Beare. Darlene will be sadly missed by her son, Steven ‘Lisa’, Heliena and Christy, her grandchildren, Kevin, Robert, Nikita and Stephanie, and her great grandchildren, Mason and Nixon, and sister, Gail. A farm girl at heart, she will also be missed be her furry companion, Charlie; and many extended family members including nieces, nephews, and cousins, who were more her siblings, and forever loved. A Private Service for Darlene will be held at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Darlene’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice at www.reddeerhospice.com or as she would say, to whatever is important to you. I always had a good time when Dar and I got together. We could share and say anything; no judging but good down to earth common sense. We laughed and shared. We loved to go for Chinese food and always snuck out a few extra Sesame balls. The quilts she made were a work of art, and she put her heart into them. She made mine so personal, I will always treasure the Angel one in particular. She is with God and I will see her there, on the far banks of the Jordan. But for now, my heart and love is with her, My sister, I love you. Buttons. Dave will keep his wings now Dar.
