Obituary for Valeria Anne Jansen

JANSEN, Valeria
1943 – 2022
Mrs. Valeria Anne Jansen, passed away at Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the age of 79 years. Valeria was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan on March 31, 1943, to Lorenz and Anna Marie Beilman. She was raised on a farm at Grosswerder and later moved to Primate, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of seven children. Unfortunately, her mom passed away when she was only twelve months old, but she always credited her dad for being both mother and father and had a special relationship with him. She went to Palm School before graduating top of her class from Primate. She convocated in 1964, as a Registered Nurse from St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon and accepted a job at the Unity Hospital, to be close to her dad. She met Jerome Jansen in her first year of nursing and was married in 1965. They lived in Unity, Saskatchewan and had two children, Todd (1966) and Dana (1973). She balanced having a nursing career and being a farmer’s wife. Valeria worked at the Unity Hospital and then at the Unity Unimac until retiring in 1998. She sat on the Board of the Public Library and passed on her love of reading and books to her children and grandchildren. She and Jerome built a retirement home in Red Deer to enjoy their grandchildren, Zack, Sam, Shynelle and Jordana and they have lived there since 2003. Valeria was often seen in the stands at hockey rinks, ball diamonds, gymnasiums, etc. She found true joy in being involved in the lives of her grandchildren. She took time to make everyone feel special and formed genuine relationships with her grandkids, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Unfortunately, cancer took her life too early on May 19, 2022. Valeria will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jerome, her son, Todd (Sherri), her daughter, Dana (Dean), her four grandchildren, and numerous relatives. She was predeceased by all her siblings, Katie (Stang), Joe, Margaret (Hermary), Henrietta (Miller), Victor, Hilda (Bachand) and numerous in-laws. If desired, Memorial Donations in Valeria’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca or please consider providing a blood donation at your local Canadian Blood Services Chapter.
