Shirley Gwendolyn "Gwen" Dickson passed away at Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the age of 78 years. She was born in Peace River, Alberta on July 14,1941 to George Edward Hill and Norma Gertrude Steedsman. She grew up in the Nampa, Alberta area. She met and married Edward (Ted) Thomas Watt in 1957. Gwen and Ted setup farming and raising a family of four children; Loren, Cheryl, Dale and Arlene in the Wesley Creek area near Ted’s parents family farm. Ted and Gwen sold that farm moving to the Three Creeks area where they farmed for many years. After the children had left home, Gwen started working first the Alberta Department of Transportation and then Alberta Forestry until Ted retired and they “retired” to Creston, BC in 1988. Unfortunately Ted passed away very suddenly on the 18th June 1989.

In 1993 Gwen met and married John Dickson. Gwen and John lived briefly in Creston and wintering in Arizona. For the next few years Gwen and John lived in a number of place in B.C, Alberta and Ontario until they returned to Fort Assiniboine, AB just prior to John’s death in 2005. Gwen continued to live in Fort Assiniboine for a few years until her move into a senior's lodge in Barrhead. To be closer to family Gwen moved to Red Deer in 2017.

Gwen is predeceased by her husband Edward Thomas Watt of Peace River, Alberta; Mother Norma Gertrude Hill; her Father George Edward Hill; her second husband John Dickson. Her sisters Brenda Ripley; Louise Watt; Georgina Darago; Linda Webster; her brother Brian Hill as well as her youngest son Dale Watt. She leaves to mourn, her children Loren Watt, Cheryl Whitten and Arlene Spinks; 11 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium. At Gwen’s request, her ashes will be laid to rest with those of her Mother and her Sister Louise in Creston, BC. In lieu of cards and flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to the Heart & Stroke Foundation; Canadian Cancer Society and the Red Deer Hospice.
