Mrs. Ruby May Sakofsky passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the age of 83 years. Ruby was born June 30th, 1939 in Edmonton, Alberta. Her parents Delbert and Olive Whitesell raised Ruby in Rimbey where she enjoyed horse back riding, and the beauty of farm life. Ruby graduated from Rimbey High School where she met Gordon Sakofsky. Their loved bloomed and she married her high school sweetheart. Ruby and Gordon had two beautiful girls, Brenda and Wendy and one son, Trevor, they raised them on a farm outside of Brooks. Ruby enjoyed being a pioneer. You would find her anywhere from barrel racing to crochet/knitting, gardening, enjoying a romance book or movie or working as a manager in a Saloon. Ruby used to light up a room with her singing, cooking and love for her family. She spent her last few years living in Red Deer enjoying the beauty of life and grateful to spend it with her Granddaughter, Michelle. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Brenda and Wendy; her grandchildren, Michelle, Michael from Calgary, Kimberly, Rochelle, Michael W., Gabrielle, and Danielle; her great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; her sister in law, Alice Whitesell; as well as numerous family members and dear friends. Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Gordon in 2011; their son, Trevor in 1999; her parents, Olive and Delbert Whitesell as well as her brothers, Charles (Audrey), John (Louise), Harry (Marion) and Bob.
