Obituary for Robert Leslie Campbell

Mr. Robert Leslie Campbell, beloved husband of Mrs. Shirley Campbell of Red Deer, Alberta passed away suddenly but peacefully,surrounded by his family, in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the age of 77 years. Robert was born at Lacombe, Alberta to Carl and Christina (nee Parks) Campbell. He grew up on the family farm west of Lacombe, in the Fairview District; and went to the Arbor Dale School, until it closed. He then went into Lacombe and attended the Nelson School. Robert worked at McTaggart and Mainline Motors in Lacombe. Robert married Shirley Downes of Bluffton, Alberta in 1967 and in 1969, and the couple moved to Red Deer; where Robert worked for the Hudson Bay Company. In the mid 1970’s, Robert started working for Prairie Bus Lines. He was a mechanic in the shop and also drove Chartered Coach for Pacific Western Bus Lines. Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-two years, Shirley Campbell; his daughter, Wanda (Trenton) Looy and his son, Daryl (Teena) Campbell; his four grandchildren, Rhanda (Cam) Jaeger, Landon (Shelby Gibeau) Campbell, Tonya Looy and Kendell Looy; and two very special great granddaughters, Mackenzie and Sage. He will also be sadly missed by his very close brother, Clinton Campbell; who will miss the daily phone calls and his two sisters, Helen and Eileen Campbell. Robert was also still fortunate to have two special aunts, Frances Parks and Ruby Riggan; as well as very close friends, Tyler Brake, Matt (Amanda) and Jordan MacLean, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Christina, a sister, Myrtle, a brother-in-law, Andy, his sisters-in-law, Jean and Marie and his two nephews, Robin and Warren. A Funeral Service will be held at the Paterson Community Centre, 2101 – 27 Avenue, Bowden, Alberta on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with lunch to follow. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m.at the Innisfail Cemetery, Innisfail, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Robert’s honor may be made directly to a Charity of the Donor’s choice.
