Obituary for Richard 'Al' Alvon Bunn

BUNN, Richard
1942 – 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Richard Alvon Bunn on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the age of 78 years. Al was born in Hamiota, Manitoba, to Al and Bert Bunn, and grew up in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Al was very proud of his family and his grandchildren meant everything to him. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and brother who put others ahead of himself and had a heart of gold. Al was a mentor to many and lived life to its fullest, always with a smile on his face and a positive attitude throughout. Al lived a life of service, having joined the RCMP at a ripe young age of nineteen, to fulfill his dream of being a Mountie. He had a successful career of thirty-six years, retiring as a Superintendent, in 1997. You can find out more about his career at Pillars of the Force: https://mpvirtualpillars.ca/bunn-richard-al-alvon/ Retiring in Lacombe, Alberta in 1997, Al shared his expertise by volunteering on the Police Commission for five years. Al was an active Royal Canadian Legion Member at the Lacombe Branch No. 79, serving on the Executive; as well as Chairman for the Legion Campground for many years. In lieu of flowers, if desired, Memorial Donations in Al’s honour may be made directly to Ducks Unlimited Canada at www.ducks.ca. Al will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Sandra, his daughters, Tamara (Nick) and Stacey (Blair), his grandchildren, Morgan, Mackenzie and Logan, and his sister, Karin (Jerry). Al was predeceased by his mother and father. A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, when we can toast to his wonderful and full life. The family would like to thank Dr. Smit and the Alberta Health Services Homecare Staff for their care and support. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.
