We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Mrs. Nancy Wood on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the age of 67 years. Nancy was born on June 16, 1953 in Ottawa, Ontario. She was an accomplished Highland Dancing Champion. Nancy was initially married to John Wood, an EMT, who had just been accepted to the RCMP. They moved to Regina, Saskatchewan for training and after a brief period back in Ottawa, they settled in Red Deer, Alberta; where they proudly raised two children, Christopher and Jamie Lyn. Nancy became a very successful Appliance Salesperson at Sears for nearly thirty years. Later in life, Nancy met her soulmate, Art Gagné. They spent twenty-five years together, and travelled and saw much of the world. Nancy was extremely proud of her seven grandchildren, Jaden (Julia), Noah, Kai, Ethan, Solana, Ethan and Taya. A warm, thoughtful and gentle soul, Nancy had an extraordinary capacity to listen and make others feel special and loved. We will greatly miss her glowing and joyous presence. Everyone that met her, adored her. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Art Gagné; her sons, Christopher of Red Deer, Alberta and Michael of Lacombe, Alberta; her daughters, Jamie Lyn (Luis) of Bonnyville, Alberta and Tamara (Pete) of Cochrane, Alberta and her beloved grandchildren. Nancy will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Joan (Rich), Elaine (Mike) and her brother, Walt (Francis); her devoted dog, Callie (5 lbs. 3” tall); as well as the many people whose lives she touched throughout the years. Nancy was predeceased by her older brother, Kenneth Birchall. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date per Covid-19 Restrictions.
