Mrs. Marla Arlene Newton (nee Barnec) of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the age of 64 years. Marla was born in Stettler, Alberta to Dan and Marie Barnec on March 22, 1958. She grew up on a farm near Botha, Alberta, and eventually settled in Red Deer with her husband, Danny. Together, they raised four wonderful children. Marla’s greatest love was her family. As a playschool teacher, Miss Marla touched the lives of all who knew her, including many young children she taught at Tiny Tots Playschool. She had a true gift with children and made it her mission to enrich and improve the lives of others. Her incredible patience, kindness, and compassion will live on through all the lives she influenced. Marla loved being outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, or being on the golf course, with Danny and friends. Her sense of adventure and love of travel took her and Danny to many places both near and far. Marla will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Danny; her children, Janelle (Mike), Chad (Nikki), Rayna (Steve) and Danielle; and her grandchildren, Weston, Bennett, Blake, Austin and Merrick. Marla will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Connie (Wayne), Janie (Stephen), Karen (Ivor), Shelly and Holly; her sisters-in-law, Wendy and Shelley; numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. Marla was predeceased by her parents, Marie and Dan Barnec and her brother-in-law, Larry.
