The family of Margaret Kennedy is saddened to announce her passing on Friday January 15th, 2021 at the age of 81. As she ended her journey here on earth she was surrounded by the love & support of her family.
Margaret “Margie” Edith (Bell) Kennedy was a bright and colorful lady inside & out. Full of love and laughter, she was always well dressed, well kept and fancy. The grandma with the pink hair & beautiful nails, she will be remembered with a smile by anyone who ever had the privilege of meeting her.
Margie was born & raised in Harvey Station, New Brunswick. On the Bell family farm, surrounded by nature & water. She spent her summers swimming in Lake George and winters skating on it. She headed West in her adult years, and as she raised her children, she called many places in B.C & Alberta home. No matter where Margie hung her hat, she was always a fun, outgoing, happy East coast country girl at heart.
Margie believed in hard work, she exemplified what being a strong independent woman was all about. She spoke fondly of her many careers such as her time owning and operating the Eckville Restaurant with her friend Loney or her time working for Old Dutch Potato Chips. Most of her years though were spent being a loving caregiver at Glamorgan Nursing Home, Vernon Hospital & retiring at Michener Centre.
Margaret was a woman of strong faith. She did not feel the need to attend church every Sunday, but she always prayed for her loved ones to be healthy & happy. She taught all her kids the Serenity & the Lords prayer. These became the daily prayers for her kids & grandkids, especially this last month of Margaret’s precious life.
Margaret was predeceased by her father & best friend Malcolm Bell, her Mum Erma Bell, her older brother Merle, her partner in her senior years John as well as her cherished puppy companion Gizmo “Gizzy Girly”. She is survived by her large & loving family. By her 7 children and their families which she said were always her greatest accomplishment.
Her son Ricky (Bernice), daughter Debra, son Perry (Hilary), son Mike (Twyla), daughter Wanda (Darrell), daughter Tammy (Brian) & daughter Marcy (Mike). All her children found success in love and life over the years and for this she was proud and grateful.
Gramma will never be forgotten by her Grandchildren whom she knew and loved. She was so thankful to be an included part of all their lives over the years. Justin, Andrea & Lisa, Raymond, Scott, Katrina, Kassedy & Kelsi, Kandace (Jonnathan), Brooke (Nolen), Christopher, Tamara (Chad), Dustin (Tricia) & Danielle, Angela (Frank), Chantelle (Dustin), Kirsten (Dean), Brennan, Sabrina & Piper. Plus, many great grandchildren that she spent time with and loved.
Marg, “Mugs”, will also be fondly remembered and missed by Pearl Bell, Diane Pollock, & Marlene Gervais who were lifelong friends and all continued to be an active part in her life right until the end.
A celebration of life will be held for Margie in June, around the time of her birthday, once the world has settled down and the Alberta weather is warmer. When everyone whose lives she impacted can gather in nature surrounded by love, just as she wanted. A HUGE (pronounced “‘UGE” like she always did) Country Campout full of family, friends, amazing food, country western music, horses, hearts, and the colour pink.
