Obituary for Lorne Everett Fowler

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Lorne Everett Fowler, at his home in Red Deer, Alberta, on Monday, September 28, 2020 at the age of 75 years. Lorne was born on January 21, 1945 and raised on a farm North of Edmonton, in the Namao Area, with his three brothers and two sisters. Lorne loved gardening and even dabbled in a small mushroom farm, in the early ‘80’s. He would spend hours in the yard making flower beds; I guess more flowers, less mowing. In June 1999, Lorne married Dorothy Nelson and settled in Innisfail. Lorne loved curling for many years, in 2001, he changed to bowling. He loved it so much, he became a YBC Coach and participant in the Master Bowling Association. Lorne continued bowling until 2018. Lorne was a Sheet Metal Technician, working mostly in the heating and ventilation areas and working for BMB Metals, in Sylvan Lake. After an accident at work, Lorne retired in 2006. In 2008, Lorne and Dorothy moved into Red Deer. In 2016, he moved to Aspen Ridge Grande Condos, where he met some of his best friends. He was having coffee meetings five times a week. Lorne will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy Fowler of Red Deer, Alberta, and Dorothy’s sons, Justin (Kerri) Nelson of Bowden and Jared (Allison) Nelson of Innisfail. Lorne will also be sadly missed by his brother, Brian Fowler of Edmonton; as well as numerous other family members and dear friends. Lorne was predeceased by his sisters, Lorna and Donna; and his brothers, Wilson and Eugene. A Private Family Celebration of Lorne’s Life will be held. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Lorne’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.ca. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
