Obituary for Loretta Clara Schropp (Moll)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Loretta Clara Schropp (nee Moll) at Lacombe, Alberta on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the age of 97 and three quarter years. Loretta was born to Theresia (nee Schmid) and Alfred Moll in Bruno, Saskatchewan. She taught school in Cudworth and Regina, Saskatchewan. Loretta attended the School of Social Work in Ottawa, Ontario and worked as a Case Worker in Port Huron, Michigan. With her marriage to Jerome Henry Schropp, M.D., the couple settled in Peace River, Alberta. After his death in 1979, the family moved to Calgary and then to Red Deer, Alberta. Loretta was a lifelong member of the CWL, and a devoted member of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, always volunteering in her Church and Community. Loretta will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Mary Lynn Schropp, Wendy Schropp and Karen Sonnenberg (Shun), her grandchildren, Jason Schropp, Sarah Baudais and Deanna Bayak and her granddaughter, Laurie (Tom) Eberle and family of Regina. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Charlotte Gaffney (Moll), her nieces, Michelle van der Linden (Cam) and their children, Breanne and Josh, Maureen Gaffney and her son, Eero, her nephew, Father Myles Gaffney, her step daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Jerry Jr.), her step daughter, Joanne Lee (Arnold), her step grandson, Trevor Whalen and family, her loving relatives in Saskatchewan, the Schropp families, Selinger’s, Ehman’s and Lehmann’s, her dear friends, Della and Dale Wispinski, who were family to her and all her cherished friends of Red Deer, and special new friends of Lacombe, and her loved grand puppies, Joey and Dexter, who will miss her dearly. Loretta was predeceased by her husband, Jerry, a step son, Jerry Jr., Bernard and John Gaffney and Schropp family members in Saskatchewan. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all the kind Staff, who became her family, at the Royal Oak Village in Lacombe; as well as the wonderful care she received from Dr. Brian Elliott and Dr. Kathy Unger. If desired, Memorial Donations in Loretta’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre at www.rdrhfoundation.com or to the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter at www.cawes.com.
