Obituary for Linda Cardinal (Smith)

CARDINAL, Linda
1952 – 2022
Ms. Linda ‘Pippy’ Cardinal (nee Smith) passed away after a determined fight with pancreatic cancer on Sunday morning, August 14, 2022 at the age of 69 years. Born September 1, 1952 in Kenora, Ontario to Gordon and Florence Smith, Linda’s spirited individualism led her to Calgary, Alberta, where she settled with her young family in 1975. A hard working and self-reliant woman, Linda instilled in her daughters a strong sense of family, desire for adventure and a never-give-up attitude. As a professional clown, Pippy enjoyed volunteering at Children’s Hospitals, care homes, church events, and countless public events. She enjoyed spreading kindness and laughter as a talented balloon artist and juggler, becoming a part of many volunteer groups over the years. She will live on through her legacy of extensive recipes, quilts and other crafts, which were much sought-after by family and friends. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her partner, Colin, her daughters, Andrea, Heather (Stu) and Sandra (Dave), and her grandchildren, Chayla (James), Brayden, Jade, Dylan and Gus. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Florence, and her grandchildren, Dane and Simeon. Linda’s Potluck Celebration of Life will be held at the Pioneer Lodge, 4324 – 46A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. If you wish to bring a dish, please contact the event page on Facebook. Please wear all your brightest colors. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Red Deer Hospice at www.reddeerhospice.com, which took care of Linda with kindness and dignity.
