Obituary for Jack MacDonald

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. John ‘Jack’ Wells MacDonald at the Red Deer Hospice on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the age of 77 years. Jack was born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan and was the middle child of five siblings. He was raised in Regina, Saskatchewan; where he met his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Audrey (nee Brown). Jack and Audrey were successful entrepreneurs and raised three children; as they moved across Western Canada from Saskatchewan, to British Columbia, to Alberta and back again, setting up their building supplies business. The couple settled their family in Calgary, Alberta and retired in Blackfalds, Alberta. Jack was dedicated to his business and his family, always finding time to support those less fortunate than him. In his retirement years, he enjoyed painting, wood carving and bird watching. He was an avid jokester, excellent polka dancer and could fix anything in a pinch. Jack will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his loving wife, Audrey; his children, Scott MacDonald of Stoney Plain, Alberta, Barbara (Dan) Radke of Calgary, Alberta, Colleen MacDonald (Lee Bowie) of Wakefield, Quebec; his four awesome grandsons, Joel, Ryley, Evan and Caelan and his sister, Francis; as well as many extended family members and friends. Jack was predeceased by his father, James (Jim); his mother, Nancy (nee Petigrew) and three brothers, Edward (Buddy), James (Allan) and Lorne. We are so very grateful for our time with Jack and are enriched for having known him. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at a later date.
