Obituary for Janice Margaret "Jan" Dixon (Michelson)

Mrs. Janice ‘Jan’ Margaret Dixon of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at home on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the age of 81 years. Jan was born on February 20, 1941 in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan to Ada and Einar Michelson. She was the fourth of five girls. She grew up on the family farm in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan. Jan married Samuel ‘Sam’ Dixon of Spiritwood on October 5, 1959, during the worst blizzard of the season. Janice and Sam welcomed Florence in 1962, Christine in 1964, Ken in 1966 and Edward in 1968. Sam and Jan moved to Innisfail, Alberta in 1965, and moved to Red Deer in 1974, where they still reside. Janice will be lovingly remembered by her husband of sixty-two years, Sam Dixon of Red Deer, Alberta; their children, Florence (Brent) Dracek of Cold Lake, Alberta, Christine (James) McLeod of Edmonton, Alberta, Ken (Shelly) Dixon of Red Deer, Alberta and Ed (Allison) Dixon of Red Deer, Alberta; her eight grandchildren and her eight great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Elma Anderson of Canwood, Saskatchewan and Doris (Ed) Horn of Candle Lake, Saskatchewan, as well as many relatives and dear friends. Janice was predeceased by her parents, Ada and Einar Michelson; her sisters, Helen and Dorothy and a grandson, Noah Dixon. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church 4929 – 54 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Noel Wygiera Officiating.
