It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacques Pierre Hachey on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the age of 70 years. Jacques or “UJ” (Uncle Jacques) as he was known to his family, was truly a character like no other. He lived with his brother’s family in Red Deer for the past twenty-one years and drove a taxi in Red Deer. Generally speaking, if you were a passenger in Jacques’ cab, you were not only transported to your destination, but you were also entertained. He had a quick wit and the gift of conversation and humour. He certainly loved to tell a joke, and he had quite a repertoire. He lived with his brother, Dan and sister-in-law, Cory and their three children, Danielle (Paul), Rebecca (Garret), and Spencer and saw them through from elementary school to university graduations, travels and weddings. His most recent highlight was the introduction of two great nephews, Wallace and Mossimo, who brought a light to his eye that was undeniable. He was a very kind and generous man who asked very little of anyone, and moved through his life marching to the beat of his own drum. He will be greatly missed.
Jacques will be lovingly remembered by his family and he leaves behind three sisters, Rose-Marie Bullis (Richard Wan), Huguette (Douglas) Fox, Suzanne (John) Gordon, two brothers, Guy (Lia) Hachey, Daniel (Cory) Hachey and a beautiful extended group of nieces and nephews, who will remember him with a big smile. Jacques liked to slip in and out quietly, and has once again, done exactly that. There will not be a formal service at this time – His family will celebrate him with joyful remembrance, when they can gather together. Until then, we will all hold him in our hearts.

“Thanks for the ride UJ !!”

Jacques, I will forever remember your love to laugh and your ability to bring laughter to the rest of us. That drive with you and Dan in the trunk was one of the greatest pranks I've ever been a part of lol.... I have thought of you always, and will continue to do so, when ever I hear/play a Cat Stevens song. And I'll never forget you and I staying up, just a little longer than the rest of the family in that Port Daniel chalet. You stayed and listened to my song and said you loved it-that meant the world to me Jacques and it was given the one and only named it deserved.....Every family should have an Uncle Jacques like you. I feel sorry for those who haven't.........untll we meet again. Keep everyone laughing up ya

He was a great guy!! Far too young to move on. Must have been an immediate need in Heaven for a loving man with a great sense of humour!! Rest In Peace my friend.

So saddened with the news . Jacques had an amazing kind soul and not a mean bone in his body. Everyone touched by him always had a place in their heart for him . He made a difference in everyone lives who knew him . My girls always loved his friendliness and one of a kind humour and uncanny ability to share life’s experiences with them . He showed up like fate this past June when they were celebrating my moms 80th birthday in red deer and needed a ride 💗 I remember how he was always there for your family. I remember Brian had many laughs with him over morning breakfast Barbecues when we borrowed your house when we were moving . He would always comment on how genuine he was and a one of a kind spirit! Xoxo wishing you and family soft heartFelt hugs to soothe your grief ❤️ RIP JJ Deb Irwin , Linz , Haley and Granny Phyllis Xo
