Obituary for Irene 'Lynne' Carson (Shultz)

CARSON, Irene ‘Lynne’
1941 – 2021
Mrs. Irene ‘Lynne’ Carson of Evergreen, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 79 years. Lynne was born on August 10, 1941, to Lymie and Aubrey Shultz at Stettler, Alberta. She was raised on a farm in the Gopher Head Area and started school at the age of five; as her mother was a teacher at the Gopher Head one room School. Because Lynne could already read and write, she was registered in Grade Two; which always made her the youngest in her class. Lynne’s parents bought the family farm from Jack and Ida Hill in 1950, in the Eckville District. Lynne Graduated Grade Twelve at the Eckville High School in 1958, before the age of 17. From there Lynne spent a year at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School for some upgrading; which assisted in her goal to become a nurse. Lynne graduated from Nurses Training in Calgary, to become a Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA). She then went on to work in Deer Home, Red Deer, with people with Developmental Disabilities. From there, she moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and began working at the Vancouver General Hospital. One wonderful evening, in April 1964, while out with her roommate, she met Raymond Carson. They married only a few months later, at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Red Deer, Alberta. Lynne and Ray had three children. Vincent was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia and Richard and Heather were born in Calgary, Alberta. Lynne was an avid curler for sixty-five years. She started in High School and curled almost every winter since. She enjoyed many bonspiels with great ladies, and won many prizes as a result. Lynne enjoyed being a stay at home mom, gardening, baking and cooking for her family. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, quiet disposition, and her love for humor and nature. Lynne will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Vincent (Tracy) Carson and Richard (Shannon) Carson, both of Sylvan Lake, Alberta and her daughter, Heather (Ken) Chiasson of Red Deer, Alberta; her eight grandchildren, Katherine Smith, Liam Carson, Amber Carson, Andrew Smith, Kayley Carson, Michael Carson, Blake Carson, Alexander Chiasson and her brother, Jim Shultz. Lynne was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Carson, and her parents, Lymie and Aubrey Shultz. A Private Family Service will be held. For those unable to attend, the Service will be Live Streamed and will be available at www.parklandfuneralhome.com on Saturday, April 3, 2021 just prior to 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Lynn’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.
