Obituary for Ira Wade Coubrough

Mr. Ira ‘Wade’ Coubrough of Edson, Alberta, currently residing in Blackfalds, passed away suddenly at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the age of 56 years. Wade was born in Germany on January 28, 1964; while his parents were posted overseas, as his father was in the Air Force. They moved back to Canada in 1967, and he was finally able to meet his extended family. Wade started school at Air Marshal Johnson School, Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Wade always had very fond memories of PEI, as they were some of his first. In 1973, the family was posted to Moosonee, Ontario, for two years. More great memories of friends and adventures in a northern community; where the only way to reach the Radar Base was by train. Snow machines and bikes were the common ways to travel, or by boat for trips to Moose Factory. In 1974, the family's next move was closer to his parent's roots, CFB Penhold, Alberta. Alberta became his home for the rest of his life; although he lived in Calgary, Joffre, Red Deer, Blackfalds and Edson, Blackfalds was his home town. Once his father retired from the Air Force in 1978, Wade took his Grade Nine in Blackfalds and graduated from Lacombe Composite High School in 1982. He returned to live in Blackfalds many times over the years; including the last year and a half after his father passed away, to help support his mother. Wade has had many rescued pets over his life and has given many a loving home. Wade had many health struggles over his lifetime because of Type II Diabetes; and even through receiving dialysis three times a week, since 2013, he was still very upbeat and had a wonderful and sometimes weird, sense of humour. He was always very popular with Medical Staff, even when he was his lowest. Wade will be deeply missed by his loving mother, Reta Coubrough and his sister, Cindy Coubrough. He will also be sadly missed by his cousins, his aunts and uncles and many great friends he made over his life; especially Dion, Marta and Terrance. Wade was predeceased by his father, Wayne Coubrough, in 2019. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. Hopefully, this summer, we will have a gathering to celebrate his life. If desired, Memorial Donations in Wade’s honour may be made directly to Diabetes Canada at www.diabetes.ca, the Canadian Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.ca or to an animal rescue of your choice.
