Obituary for Harry 'Phil' Philip Dekker

1937 – 2022
Mr. Harry ‘Phil’ Philip Dekker of Red Deer, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the age of 85 years. Phil was born in Hardisty, Alberta on February 19, 1937. Phil worked thirty plus years for the Workers’ Compensation Board of Alberta, as a Claims Advisor. He enjoyed volunteering for many organizations. He was President of Easter Seals and was a volunteer at Easter Seals Camp Horizon for kids in Kananaskis. He also sat on the Board of the Lupus Society of Alberta. As a White Hatter, he enjoyed welcoming guests at the Calgary Airport. Phil could often be found sitting outside in the backyard reading his bible, and having breakfast, while enjoying the backyard waterfall, pond, and flowers. Phil made his choice to serve God in 1964. He was very thankful to have had the privilege of having a Sunday and Wednesday meeting in his and Lavonne’s home. Phil will be lovingly remembered his loving wife, of sixty-four years, Lavonne, his daughters, Karen (John) Hughes and Laura Lee (Brian) Wright, his very special grandchildren, Melissa (Gerald) Murphy, Joel (Juli) Hughes, Michael (Amanda) Wright, Andrew (Perla) Hughes, Cory Hughes and Ashlee (Tyler) Drummond, and his great grandchildren, Kiral, Syena, Kwade, and Sailey Murphy, Shayna and Bria Wright, Everly and Hudson Hughes, and Burkley and Keltie Drummond. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
