Grant was born on April 11, 1941 in Galahad, Alberta. He was raised in Alliance, Alberta; and his youth highlights were farming with his dad and becoming the Captain of the High School Basketball Team. He left the world of farming at twenty years of age, to head to the big City of Red Deer. He began his working life at The Bay. He met his wife, Bea and raised together they raised their family. Grant was one of The Bay’s Canada-wide longest serving employees at forty two years. Grant went from Shoe Department Salesman to Operations Supervisor, with many roles in between. Upon retirement, he became heavily involved in The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 35, as a member of the Executive, and first Vice President. This led to Grant’s proudest moments; representing the Legion as Master of Ceremonies for November 11 Ceremonies, at Red Deer Area 2010 – 2013. He was also the Reviewing Officer for the Penhold 2012 Air Cadet Graduating Class. Grant took enormous pride in helping others and having a good laugh along the way.
