Obituary for Eileen Simpson

SIMPSON, Eileen
1947 - 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Eileen Simpson-Bodie announce her passing, after a brief stay in the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the age of 75 years. Eileen grew up on the family farm, south of Kitscoty, Alberta. She was the second youngest of her siblings. In 1965, Eileen’s own family was started with the birth of her children, Doug, Shelly and Shaun. Eileen met Delmer in 1990 and their love blossomed through the years; as they enjoyed trips to Radium Hot Springs, spending time in her garden, and hosting family and friends. Summer evenings were generally spent enjoying a drink on the deck to enjoy the fruits of their labor and watching the sunsets. One annual complaint of Eileen’s was that, even with their best attempts, her and Delmer could rarely attract hummingbirds to the feeders. Eileen loved all the tropical vacations that her and Delmer were fortunate to have gone on. However, she held a very special place in her heart for the Island of Kauai, Hawaii. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her Family, her son Doug (Pam) Their children, Lance, Logan (Jessica), Lauren (Dexter) and Lauren’s stepson, Kohen, her daughter Shelly and her children Kyla and Brandon, her son Shaun and his children Bailey and Piper, and her sister, Barb. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Wilford, her brothers, George, Frank and Doug, her sister, Margaret and tragically, and most recently, by a son-in-law, Doug Kumm. Eileen will be dearly missed by her family and the many friends and acquaintances who were touched by her. If desired, Memorial Donations in Eileen’s honor may be made directly to the Alberta Lung Association at www.ablung.ca.
