Obituary for Edward "Ed" Hackman

HACKMAN, Edward
1940 - 2022
Mr. Edward ‘Ed’ Mark Hackman, of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at his home on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the age of 81 years. Ed grew up on the family farm near Roblin, Manitoba, along with his eight brothers and two sisters; within this group, there were three sets of twins. At the age of thirteen, the family moved into Roblin. Ed came west and worked at various jobs including work on the new Highway 2. He then proceeded to work on the oil rigs up north, in various locations. Ed worked many jobs after meeting and marrying Claudia. He worked for the City of Red Deer for twenty-five years before taking early retirement. His passions were big game hunting, fishing, and travelling to British Columbia and northern Alberta. Ed loved going out with the guys. He was a handyman. If Claudia said something needed fixing, he was ‘Johnny on the spot’ and rarely had to call a handy man. Ed had a big heart; he always bought flowers for every occasion. He was a diamond in the rough. Ed and Claudia always enjoyed their Wednesday lunch dates together at Albert’s Restaurant. He was a good man, husband, dad, poppa, great grandpa and friend. He was an honest Christian man and we will miss him terribly. Ed is survived by his wife, Claudia, his son, Robert and his daughter, Cheyenne and family, and his son, Rick (Kristina) and their son, Michael. He was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy White in 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at the West Park Church of The Nazarene, 3920 - 57 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.
