Obituary for Douglas "Doug" Glover

It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Douglas ‘Doug’ Glover announce his passing on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the age of 90 years. Doug grew up in the Hillsdown area east of Red Deer, the twelfth of fourteen children born to Josh and Rhoda Glover. His early life centered around family and farming, with a healthy dose of sporting activities mixed in, and those interests remained central to him throughout his life. He met Betty Gauld at a community dance at Valley Center, and they married in 1956. They took over her father’s farm in the Lacombe County, where they raised their three children. His mixed farm eventually focused around a cow-calf operation, which he was actively involved with well into his later years. Doug enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbours. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, and was always happy to be able to watch his grandchildren in their sporting activities. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Debbie (Murray) Wagner, Shauna (Wayne) Tomalty and Neil (Leona) Glover; his seven grandchildren, Trent (Erin) Wagner, Alyssa (Warren) Meyers, Reanne (Dave) Haefliger, Kyle (Sophie) Tomalty, Shaylene (Logan) Bullee, Jelayna Tomalty and Wyatt Glover; and his nine great grandchildren; Paeton, Grayson, and Ellie Meyers; Nolan, Gavin and Paisley Wagner; Sybil and Ella Tomalty; and Shalom Bullee. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Harry; his sister-in-law, Lillian Glover; and numerous family members and dear friends. Doug was predeceased by his wife, Betty in 2016, and missed her greatly in these last years; his parents, Rhoda and Joshua; his siblings, George (Dorothy, Beatrice) Glover, Alice (Oscar) Lund, Mary Edmundson, Stanley (Nettie) Glover, Bill (Olive) Glover, Rhoda (Adrian) Tallman, Florence (Bill) Darling, Ned (Mary) Glover, Sam (Theresa) Glover, Ada (Cam) Shantz, Pearl (Bill) Scott, and Edith (Harry) Drechsler. A Memorial Service will be held at the CrossRoads Church Chapel, 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer County, Alberta on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
