Obituary for Delores Jean Armstrong (Olsen)

Mrs. Delores Jean Armstrong of Eckville, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the age of 85 years. Delores was born in Red Deer, Alberta on August 2, 1937 to Edwin and Mildred Olsen. The Olsens lived in the Alhambra Horseguard area. Delores attended school at Horseguard and then attended Alhambra School in later years. Delores worked at the Eckville Hospital at the early age of fifteen, along with her mom and her sister, Phyllis. She also owned and operated the trailer court and rental properties with her husband, Donald Armstrong until his passing. Delores worked at the Eckville Co-op Meat Department and at the Hardware Store, as well as Rhodes Radio and TV. In the years to follow, she operated a sign and music shop business with her partner, Harold Leach at D-Joe Signs. Delores lived most of her adult life in Eckville, and moved to the Eckville Manor in September 2022, where she resided until her passing. Delores will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and dear friends. Delores will be lovingly remembered by her son, Gordon Armstrong (Cheryl), and her daughter, Teresa Hughes (Skyler), both of Eckville, Alberta, her grandchildren, Christina Hughes-Jobs, Corrina (Jonathan) Robert, Tyson (Stephanie) Armstrong, Kaily (Tyler) Allen, Spencer (Kayla) Bramall, and Landon (Shauna) Bramall, and her great grandchildren, Parker Jobs, Eastan, Huxley, Leighton Robert, Drew Armstrong, Westin and Oaklynn Allen, Holden, Riley, McKenna, Avery Bramall, and Devyn Bramall. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Phyllis Balzer of Stony Plain, Alberta. Delores was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Mildred Olsen, her spouses, Donald Armstrong and Harold Leach, and an infant brother at birth. A Private Graveside Service will be held at the Eckville Cemetery, Eckville, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Delores’s honor may be made directly to a Charity of the Donor’s choice.
