Obituary for Daniel Lee Alspach

Although the bonds of love endure, our hearts are aching at the loss of our dear son, Daniel Lee ‘Danny’ Alspach. Danny was born on June 26, 1968, to Audrey and Robert Alspach in Regina, Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Monday, February 8, 2021 at the age of 52 years. Danny was a gentle soul; who found his own ways to show his joys, sorrows and mischief, as well as his love. He attended Parkland School, North School and Cosmos; before moving away to his home with several other friends. He found his recent family with Etana, Jodi, Tanys, Tammy, Joan and Michele; who are missing their “brother” in all his many familiar, yet surprising ways, of belonging. Both of Danny’s sisters, Kim Christie in Victoria and Roberta Balagopal in Singapore, learned as they grew up, to accept the many trials and tribulations with their special and only brother, while he slowly wove himself into their hearts. Besides his siblings, Danny will be dearly remembered by his loving parents, Bob and Audrey Alspach, his brother-in-law, Vinod (Roberta); his sister-in-law, Gabrielle (Kim); his aunts, Gerry (Lynn) Mason of North Burnaby, British Columbia, Donna (Jerry) Zbytnuik of Coldstream, British Columbia, Joyce (Jim) Zelinski of Vernon, British Columbia and Dianne (Maurice) Staudt of Falkland, British Columbia; and his nibling, Mads and nephew, Marin of Victoria, British Columbia. It would be a great failure not to mention those precious ones who guided Danny’s days, for many years. His current manager, Shermon, and previously, Julia, who made his eyes sparkle, with their magical and loving care; as well as the multitude of caregiving workers who kept him safe and happy with their love and attention. If desired, Memorial Donations in Danny’s honour may be made directly to Etana (formerly Central Alberta Residence Society) at www.canadahelps.org, to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com or to the Central Alberta Humane Society at www.cahumane.com.
