Obituary for Brent Lee Woolsey

WOOLSEY, Brent Lee
1964 – 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Brent Lee Woolsey of Red Deer, Alberta at Home on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the age of 56 years. Brent peacefully made his Journey Home. Brent was the son of William and the late Della (Roy) Woolsey. He was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, on December 11, 1964. Brent was the youngest of eight children, a birth order he cherished. He and his siblings grew up on the family farm, a home filled with love and childhood memories. A place they all gathered for family celebrations as well as day to day get togethers. Brent attended school in both Tisdale and Melfort, and graduated from Melfort Unit Comprehensive Collegiate in 1982. Brent also attended Covenant Bible College in Prince Albert. In 1986, Brent relocated to Hinton, Alberta. This move was the impetus for his career in the foodservice industry. With his experience from managing Hannigans’s Restaurant in Melfort, along with an astounding work ethic, Brent soon became the manager of the local A&W. He then became one of the youngest franchise partners in Canada. Over the years, Brent and his franchise won numerous awards, and he was recognized nationally for those achievements. Brent then switched his career focus. He became an award-winning Sales/Fleet manager for Griffiths Ford. This successful and longstanding career allowed him to do what he loved most; interact with people. During his life in Hinton, Brent and his wife Kelly (Meyers) raised their beautiful children, Wyatt and Emma. Together with their family, they built incredible relationships and memories with a large host of friends. They enjoyed travel and adventure, with Hinton's scenic backdrop being their favourite place to camp, quad and fish. As Wyatt and Emma grew older, Brent continued to share his adventurous side and zest for life with them. The Hinton area remained the perfect place for all of the activities they loved. Brent was a great athlete. He enjoyed every type of competitive sports, but hockey was a definite favourite. Brent also enjoyed a fun rivalry with friends who wanted to see his precious “Leafs” beaten. In 2017, Brent embarked on another life change. At the age of 53, Brent moved to Red Deer to be with his Gracie. Together, they travelled to some remarkable places: Maui, Cancun, Italy, and Arizona. But their most unforgettable trips were on Brent’s Harley, exploring some of the magnificent mountain ranges in our own incredible country. On September 13, 2019, Brent and Grace (Watson) married and joined their two families as one. During their courtship and marriage, Brent and Grace shared their adventures and the things they loved to do with their children. Playing tennis, cribbage, billiards, hiking, biking, golfing, quadding, berry picking, fishing, skiing, canoeing, and camping… they enjoyed it all together! There was many a family gathering that always seemed to have a competitive marble game tournament. Brent will always be remembered for his big hugs, kindness, and larger than life soul. Brent will be lovingly remembered by his father, William (Bill) his wife, Grace, his children, Wyatt, Emma, Brenan, Cody and Kristen, his brothers and sisters, William (Bill) Woolsey, Laurel Minich, Janette and Bruce Kornetz, Jack Miller, Shirley and Don Longman, Sandi and Glenn Ferguson, Donna and Dave Krahn, Robert (Bob) and Barb Woolsey, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. Brent will also be sadly missed by both the Meyers and Mochoruk Families. Brent’s Angels will be rejoicing as he is reunited with them once again, his loving mother, Della (Roy) his sisters, Joanne Miller and Wendy Woolsey and his grandfather, Eddie Meyers. All will miss his incredible love, smile and hugs. A Private Family Service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. A live streaming of the service may be viewed at www.crossroadschurch.ca/livefunerals.
