Obituary for Arthur Pritchard

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Arthur Pritchard of Red Deer, Alberta, formerly Ponoka, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the age of 91 years. Arthur was born in Chapel House, Croesor, Penrhyndeudraeth, North Wales, United Kingdom on September 7, 1928. He immigrated to Canada from Wales in 1953; sailed on the Queen Mary and arrived in Orangeville, Ontario, where he worked on farms. In August 1954, he arrived with a friend, Dave Thomas, to Ponoka, Alberta and began a career from Porter to Journeyman Cook at Alberta Hospital Ponoka, a career that spanned thirty one years. Arthur enjoyed family, gardening, playing pool, reading and many trips to visit extended family in North Wales. Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Eifiona Pritchard of fifty five years; daughters and their families, Edna (Darnell) Jabs of Leduc, Alberta, and Laura (Dean) Rawlins of Red Deer; grandchildren, Ellen, Taylor (Ryan), Melissa, and Tristyn; sister-in-law, Grace; niece, Susan and family; as well as numerous relatives and dear friends in North Wales. He was predeceased by his parents, Edna May and Evan John Pritchard; brother, Aelwyn, and nephew, John. As per Arthurs request, A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
