Obituary for Alma Joyce Lapierre

Mrs. Alma ‘Joyce’ Lapierre passed away at the Hamlets at Red Deer on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the age of 94 years. Joyce was born on January 23, 1928 at Redvers, Saskatchewan, and raised there. Joyce married Ephraim Lapierre and moved to Alberta in 1961, and settled in Fox Creek, Alberta, in 1963. Joyce had a career as cook in Construction camps, and restaurants at Fox Creek, Alberta, followed by twenty years as a cook for Beaver Drilling throughout Alberta, retiring at age seventy. Joyce moved to Red Deer, Alberta after Ephraim’s passing. She enjoyed travel with her special niece, Marion Watson visiting many locations in Canada and the United States. She also enjoyed travel internationally with family and close friends. Joyce was also an avid volunteer with the Catholic Women’s League when she resided in Fox Creek, Alberta. Joyce lived her life through the Great Depression and Covid with a positive attitude, kindness for others, respect, and dignity. She loved her family and friends with all her heart and will be forever remembered by all who met her. She was the best mom and grandma you could ever hope for. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her family, her son, Michael Lapierre (Debbie) of Bellevue, Alberta; her daughter, Brenda Van Bavel (Colin) of Red Deer, Alberta; her five grandchildren, Jay, Duke, Chad, Cameron and Lindsay and her seven great grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Ephraim Lapierre, her parents, siblings and family, and dear friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Rautenbach and the staff at Canyon View, and The Hamlets at Red Deer for the special care and compassion during her time there. In lieu of flowers, if desired, Joyce requests that you pay it forward and spend time with a senior; whether it would be a cup a tea, or an outing for ice cream, or a hug in her memory. A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will be held at a later date.
