Obituary

HAMMOND, William John (Bill)
1930 – 2019
William John Hammond of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2019
at the age of 88 in the Red Deer Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. William (Bill)
valued family above all else and will be forever remembered in their hearts including his
beloved wife of 58 years, Patricia, and their four children; Debra (Tim) Pullyblank of Markerville,
Shannon (Ron) Campbell of Blackfalds, Lorrie (Gord) Peterson of Whitehorse, and Reginald (Mi-
young) Hammond of Calgary; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister Janette
of Rocky and one half-brother Dick of Consort. Bill was predeceased by his son Brent, his sister
Doris and brother Ed of Rocky, and half-brother Norman of Penhold. Bill was born December 24, 1930 in Rocky Mountain House. His childhood years were spent in Rocky, Airdrie, and Nordegg. Bill tried his hand at several occupations including work in a lumberyard, a very short stint (understandably) as a cook for a road crew, mining, bridge painting for the Army, and as a fireman on the steam engines, until he finally settled on the Plumbing Trade. He obtained his Plumbing and Gas Fitting Certificate from Calgary Trade School in 1958. He completed his Apprenticeship at Burnett Plumbing and Heating and continued to work for them until 1965 when he joined Crest Plumbing. In 1972, Bill joined Boomer Plumbing and Heating followed by Hayhoes Plumbing and Heating Limited in 1973. In August of 1975, Bill went to work for Alberta Public Works until his retirement in 1993. Bill and Pat were married in Rocky Mountain House on June 17, 1961. They began raising their family in Central Park, Red Deer. In 1978, they moved their family to an acreage north of Sylvan Lake to enjoy the country life until 2016 when they moved into the town of Sylvan Lake. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Sylvan Lake Legion (4916 50 th Avenue) beginning at 2:00pm. If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made to the Red Deer Regional Hospital. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040 or 1.800.481.7421.

Dear Pat and all of you,
I am Soo saddened by this news. Our thoughts are with you.
Although I wasn’t able to stop by the acreage as much as I wanted to as the years went by, I sure have fond memories of sitting outside and shooting the breeze with Bill! and Pat, who were always such gracious hosts.
Bills heart was as big as that great head of hair!😊
Until we meet again Mr. Hammond, I look forward to seeing you again one day, I will be a very lucky man when I do!
Rest old friend Rest now.
Love,
Lance Cucheran
