I have known John for many years through the Canadian Badgers Club. He was always a perfect gentleman and a pleasure to be around and deal with. I was saddened by the news of his passing. He will be missed.

I first met John at the 1st meeting of the Scout Memorabilia Collectors and was fascinated by his in-depth knowledge of scouting badges and scouting history. John developed the coding system for the badge catalogues for scout badges. I am pleased to say, the system remains in place today.

I used to meet John annually at various swap meets, but the Montreal Swap & Auction was where I would meet him most often. He was usually the trader and I the receiver, but 3 years back, I managed to have a badge that John actually needed. I was so delighted to make that trade. This May/June, I completed a number of trades with John, filling some holes in my Badger collection.
John was and remains legendary and I will miss his knowledge, wit and friendship. Rest in Peace, John.
