Obituary for Amy June "June" Fowler (Richardson)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Amy ‘June’ Fowler at Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the age of 85 years. June was born in Carstairs, Alberta on June 16, 1934 and was raised on the family farm, east of Didsbury, Alberta. After finishing grade nine at Siebertville School, she moved to Calgary, Alberta to work; and eventually went to Nurse’s Aide Training, graduating in 1952. After graduating from Nursing School, she moved to Hanna, Jasper, Camrose and finally settled in Red Deer, Alberta in 1969. June married Don Fowler in 1982. They spent a lot of time travelling and very much enjoyed their winter home in Sun City, Arizona, where they were able to golf throughout the year. June was a proud member of the Royal Purple, the Eastern Star and was a thirty-five year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. June loved golf, needle work, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. June will be lovingly remembered by her children, Duane, Cheryl, Denise (Ron), Steve (Judy), Jim (Fawn) and Barbara; her grandchildren, Jordan (Courtney), Ali (Quinton), Dana (Natasha), Dion (Taya), Kayla, Ryan (Tia), Joshua, Christy, Sean (Tommy), Leah (Christian), Robert, James and Daniel, as well as eight great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Eileen (Bud) Tighe, and numerous nieces and nephews. June was predeceased by her husband, Don in 2008, a son, Brian and a daughter, Linda; as well as other loved ones. June’s Family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to Dr. Hopfner for caring for our mother with so much compassion over the years, and to the staff at Revera Inglewood, and ‘The Hamlets” for their kindness and caring in Mom’s last years. If desired, Memorial Donations in June’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.ca; to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT and Nunavut at www.heartandstroke.ca; or to the Lending Cupboard Society of Alberta at www.lendingcupboard.ca.
